Observatory Support & Hardware Guides.

Troubleshoot telescope mount connections, review transparent closed-form astronomical equations, or contact the engineering team for direct assistance.

1. Connecting Telescope Mounts via WebSerial

DRIVERLESS

Reverie Dawn communicates directly with equatorial mounts using standard WebSerial APIs in modern Chromium browsers (Chrome, Edge, Brave). Zero ASCOM platform or INDI compiler required.

STEP-BY-STEP CHECKLIST:
1. Connect your mount hand controller or mainboard via USB to your laptop.
2. Ensure baud rate is set to 115200 (ZWO AM5 / iOptron) or 9600 (Sky-Watcher SynScan).
3. Click "CONNECT TO MOUNT (WEBSERIAL)" in the planner. Select the COM / ttyUSB port.
4. Slew and centering commands are issued with checksum verification in real time.

2. Closed-Form Astrodynamics Equations

J2000 MATH

All celestial hour angles, sidereal times, and horizon elevations are evaluated via deterministic spherical trigonometry:

Transit Hour Angle:
cos(H₀) = (sin(h₀) - sin(φ)·sin(δ)) / (cos(φ)·cos(δ))
Airmass Extinction Formula (Rozenberg 1966):
X(z) = (cos(z) + 0.025·exp(-11·cos(z)))⁻¹

3. Scotopic 650nm Red Mode

EYE SAFETY

Naked-eye dark adaptation takes 30–45 minutes to produce rhodopsin in retinal rods. Pressing R anywhere in the app shifts the entire interface to 650nm deep red wavelengths, preserving 100% of your night-adapted vision at dark sky sites.
